I lie and think. I think and I lie and I lie and think. Nothing happens around me, nothing, nothing, nothing. I am used to being entertained, I am used to being connected to the world wide web, I am used to reading, talking, drinking, eating, studying, going out, but in here only I and the clock on the wall exist. I am waiting, craving for a visit, I want to know when I will be up and alright again; there is so much I want and nothing happens. As I cannot see in the hallway, I try to listen to faint talk, but nothing more than an occasional “Good morning or Good day” comes out of this. After a couple hours, which, without the usual distractions through media or other things, seem like years, I glimpse a song playing in the distance. I know the song very well, I have listened to it many a time and it’s one of my favourites. “Tales of never ending days” by Paddy goes to Holyhead. I listen to the lyrics and do the only thing that is left to me for now: think. The song suddenly stops and begins all over. This repeats itself approximately seven times until I finally realize that the song is only in my head and change the channel. Early in the evening a doctor pops in, but still all ways of communication are refused to me, so I try to listen attentively to what he has to say. But the doctor remains silent and anonymous, checks the needles, flips through a couple of pages, shakes his head and leaves.
